To have a craving is one thing, to be addicted beyond self-help is life threatening.

Poet and literary author of the 1800’s Edgar Allan Poe, said about his addiction:
“I have absolutely no pleasure in the stimulants in which I sometimes so madly indulge. It has not been in the pursuit of pleasure that I have periled life and reputation and reason. It has been the desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of some strange impending doom.”

Dr. Raoul Goldberg has formulated a successful recovery technique, the PATH method to assist individuals to successfully move through a ‘dark night of the soul’ experience.  Participatory Awareness for Transformational Healing is a process whereby the individual is both the patient and the healer, the receiver and the giver.
